DTS
DTS stands for Digital Takuhaibin System. It is FreeGateway’s web-based file sharing daemon. The name comes from takuhaibin, the Japanese word for door-to-door parcel delivery: DTS gets your files to the people who need them.
Sign in with your email address
DTS uses the OpenLDAP-based user database of Kojo for authentication. That database uses email addresses as user IDs, so people sign in to DTS with the same email address and password they use for their email.
Ransomware protection
Every file uploaded to DTS is scanned by two independent engines: ClamAV, which detects known malware, and YARA, which identifies malicious files by matching rules against their contents. Files that pass both scans are healthy, and DTS delivers them to their recipients. Infected files are quarantined and are never delivered, so DTS cannot be used to pass ransomware or other malware from one person to another.
Because YARA rules change frequently, DTS relies on YARA Rule Manager to download, validate and compile them automatically.
Efficient use of storage
DTS uses storage space very efficiently by never duplicating files. It uses hard links instead of file copies, so a file shared with many people is stored only once.
